YAWN YARD

Luxury in Roughness.

“YAWN YARD,” which opened on Kouri Island, Okinawa in 2024, is an accommodation facility offering a new hotel concept: “a garden you can stay in.” We directed all touchpoints, from naming and signage to website and staff interactions.

Setting itself apart from conventional luxury hotels, YAWN YARD embraces “generosity” and “simplicity” that harmonize with nature. We also created a design system flexible enough to adapt to operational changes after opening.

Using “YAWN (generous)” and “YARD (unadorned)” as guiding principles, we developed an original typeface. By sharing values with everyone involved—from architects to chefs to gardeners—we established a sustainable system that staff themselves can update.
