EXPERIENCE JAPAN PICTOGRAMS
Tourism/Social
visit siteNDC was responsible for planning and developing free pictograms that aim to help support the Japanese tourism experience through design. Focusing on the idea of a second visit to Japan, we created a lineup that delves a step beyond conventional experiences in Japan. These pictograms are suited for all environments, including real spaces, print, and screens. In addition to aiding inbound travel, we hope they will be used by overseas bases and media outlets to introduce Japan to the world.

NDC developed over 280 pictograms for this project, and these pictograms work as the smallest tools to teach the world about the diversity found in Japan. A majority of the pictograms also include explanations. In addition, NDC devised easy-to-understand animations to convey aspects of Japanese customs and culture that are difficult to understand with words alone, such as visiting shrines and temples, bowing, and bathing etiquette.
