Release of “EXPERIENCE JAPAN PICTOGRAMS” Supporting Japan's Tourism Experience Through Design
2021.02.26 / Notices

Nippon Design Center has released “EXPERIENCE JAPAN PICTOGRAMS,” free pictograms that support Japan's tourism experience through design. Art direction is by Daigo Daikoku of Daikoku Design Institute.
Developed as a concept project for the ongoing “VISUALIZE 60” exhibition, these 280 pictograms feature a distinctive lineup that delves deeper into the Japanese experience than conventional pictograms, with "Second Visit to Japan" as the keyword. Pursuing simple and clear forms, they are compatible with all environments regardless of physical space, print, on-screen, or media.
Nippon Design Center focuses on Japan's latent attractive values and the tourism industry that utilizes them as resources, with the development of “EXPERIENCE JAPAN PICTOGRAMS” being part of this effort. We encourage their use for inbound tourism needs, as well as at overseas locations and in media introducing Japan. We hope that making these available for free, including for commercial use, will widely raise awareness about the necessity of visualizing design and value in Japan's tourism sector.
