Camellia Oil

Located at the southernmost point of Japan’s mainland, Kagoshima Prefecture is home to Sakurajima—its iconic symbol and a globally renowned tourist destination that remains an active volcano. Even in the harsh environment where volcanic ash regularly falls, camellias continue to grow. The 100% pure, premium camellia oil extracted from wild camellia seeds has become a beloved local specialty, deeply rooted in everyday life.

To share this region’s treasure with a broader audience beyond the local area, we developed packaging design as part of a comprehensive branding initiative.

We created a cohesive design from bottle to box, focusing on capturing the essence of camellia oil’s elegant beauty and resilience—qualities it maintains even in Sakurajima’s harsh environment—within a small 30ml bottle. Our work helped introduce a contemporary lifestyle incorporating camellias into modern living.
