Nikon (Nippon Kogaku K.K.) “1964 Tokyo Olympics: When the World's Nikons Gathered in Tokyo”
Foretelling Future Achievement

Nikon is an optical equipment manufacturer with over 100 years of history. With optical utilization technology and precision technology as its foundation, it provides diverse products, services, and solutions.
Particularly for their SLR cameras, which continue to earn tremendous trust and acclaim, we believed it essential to create advertising that captured their “track record” of being chosen by professionals worldwide as proof of quality since their release.
For advertising based on the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, we boldly stated that press boxes at the Tokyo Games would be filled with Nikon SLR cameras, drawing on their proven track record of being valued by photojournalists from around the world at past Games—’52 Helsinki, '56 Melbourne, ’60 Rome. The fact that this prediction came true generated tremendous response.

This advertisement demonstrates the high reliability of Nikon, evidenced by its popularity among photographers in the Olympic arena beginning with the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games, and again in the 1956 Melbourne and 1960 Rome Olympics. In the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, the media seats were filled with Nikon cameras, as this advertisement suggests.
