The Asahi Group is a global leader in beverages and food, with diverse brands centered on alcoholic beverages. Its subsidiary, Nikka Whisky, was founded in 1934 in Yoichi, Hokkaido, by Masataka Taketsuru — known as the father of Japanese whisky.
Taketsuru is Nikka Whisky’s flagship brand, named after its founder. Released in 2020, Taketsuru Pure Malt is a pure malt whisky that masterfully blends malt spirits exclusively from Nikka’s renowned Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries. Through their exceptional blending expertise, Nikka achieved an elegant, perfectly balanced flavor profile.
To express the premium quality befitting a flagship brand, we paired bold brush calligraphy of “Taketsuru” with a distinguished background motif inspired by bamboo and cranes. The gentle color palette evokes the whisky’s smooth character, while the subtle, watermark-like pattern reflects the spirit’s inherent depth.
