Collection Haute Cuisine Hiver 2015
Expressing the Fusion of Japanese and French Cultures

We made invitations and a booklet for a dinner event hosted by Mitsukoshi Isetan Holdings, Japan’s largest department store group, at the French Ambassador’s residence, which aimed to foster Japanese-French culinary fusion.
Following the groundbreaking concept of bringing together creations from the Japanese team—comprising members of the traditional Japanese cuisine restaurants “Aoyagi” and “Kitcho,” the tempura restaurant “Ten-ichi,” and the wagashi (Japanese sweets) company “Toraya”—with those of the French Embassy’s chef on a single plate—we aimed to achieve a similar Japanese-French cultural fusion in our graphic design.
The curved artwork was created by a Franco-Japanese designer, taking inspiration from LINEOGRAPHY, an art of drawing that was popular in 16th and 17th century France. We finished each volume with traditional Japanese binding, expressing the spirit of Japanese omotenashi hospitality.

We produced the invitations and booklet for a dinner event that was hosted by Isetan Mitsukoshi in order to create a fusion of Japanese and French food cultures. The curving artwork is based on a lineography motif that was popular in France during the 16th and 17th centuries. The creator himself is half Japanese and half French, and succeeded in creating an invitation and booklet with a fusion of cultures suitable for the event.
