The 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT exhibition “Material, or” is an exploration that attempts to rediscover our connection with materials by interpreting it through the endlessly vast narrative that circles our planet.

We were responsible for the exhibition's promotional graphics, venue design, title and exhibition copy, as well as contributing our own work as participating artists.

Working from the hypothesis that “a beach is a place where every type of material can come together,” we collected and photographed objects washed ashore, creating visuals that embody the diverse theme of materials. These were reedited and exhibited as the work “Materialing.” To encourage dialogue between visitors and materials, we added thoughtful text to each piece, many printed on reclaimed materials—physically manifesting the exhibition’s purpose.
