HISAYA PRESS

Infusing Urban Parks with Human Warmth

Hisaya-odori Park stretches nearly one kilometer through the Sakae district in Nagoya, one of Japan's three major metropolitan areas. The space seamlessly integrates shops, restaurants, and park greenery. In 2020, it was redeveloped as a Park-PFI project to enhance urban vibrancy and create green infrastructure for city residents.

The free magazine “HiSAYA PRESS” strives to communicate the park’s role as a place for human connection, particularly from an area management perspective.

This publication takes note of voices and expressions of those who work, participate in activities, visit, and live near the park, cultivating topics infused with human warmth. As part of the editorial team, we observe the space's potential and encourage foot traffic by visualizing the park's richness through different themes in each issue.

HiSAYA PRESS 2022-2024.03

The initial magazine design featured variable lines linked to content, within a framework inspired by Hisaya-odori. A brief copy was added to help readers discover the park setting from the feature's perspective.

HiSAYA PRESS 2024.04-2025.03

Two years since the first issue. We renewed the design with an image extending beyond the park, embracing a more open and boundaryless stance. The simultaneous bustle throughout the park is expressed through map-based visualization.
