HIHI DADA
Honest HIHI. Free-spirited DADA.

Nurtured in the forests of Hida and crafted by the master artisans of HIDA, HIHI and DADA are a pair of chairs like siblings—sharing similarities yet distinctly different from one another.
Honest HIHI. Free-spirited DADA. While chairs are products made for sitting, their familiar presence can feel like companions or family members. “We have a HIHI at home.” “We have a DADA at home.” “We have both at home.” We explored how chairs could exist in ways that evoke such affection.
In the exhibition, alongside HIHI DADA, we displayed objects created by disassembling and reconfiguring chair components. Each has a curious form not intended for sitting. These pieces serve as captions on the gallery wall, visually translating the characteristics of HIHI DADA instead of using words, gently speaking to those who view and sit.
