Hakkaisan “Hyaku”
A Century Celebrated with Resonance and Dignity.
This package design is for a daiginjo sake named “Hyaku” (Hundred), brewed by Hakkai Brewing to commemorate its centennial in 2022. It marks a moment to reflect on the brewery’s journey while creating a bridge to the next hundred years and beyond.
We envisioned this sake as a monument that embodies the traditions cultivated over a century, infused generously with the brewers’ refined techniques and passion. It also celebrates Hakkai Brewing’s new chapter as it expands globally and strides confidently into the future.
The character “百” (hundred) boldly featured on the package displays a powerful yet elegant form in kaisho style, representing the meticulous sake-making approach that Hakkai Brewing continuously pursues. We invested meaning in every detail—from the individually handcrafted bottles to the handmade washi paper label symbolizing delicate craftsmanship, to the paulownia wood box that expresses the sake’s dignified presence.
