DRAW is the first sketch collection by designer Kenya Hara, representative of Nippon Design Center and a designer with wide-ranging activities including art direction for MUJI, corporate VI design, and exhibition production.

Hara describes sketching as the practice of pulling unstable ideas that come and go in the mind into the dimensions of this world. This book reveals the creative wellspring spanning about 40 years — from drawings that extract forms floating in the mind, to sketches for logos and posters, storyboards for videos, and rough layouts for exhibitions and books — all born through the movement of hand and pen.

Originally published in English by Baden, Switzerland-based Lars Müller Publishers to great acclaim, this Japanese edition maintains substantial quality as a book while remaining comfortable in the hand. The format allows sketches drawn in pencil and fine pen on A4 copy paper to be reproduced at nearly original size.
