Digital Agency, Design Assets
A Visual Communication System for All

Established in September 2021, the Japanese government’s Digital Agency represents a significant step towards transforming the nation’s approach to digital governance. It is the newest ministry in Japan, and it is committed to embracing digital innovation across government services and societal functions.
Based on their vision statement “No One Left Behind,” We worked with the creative team to produce visual assets that would be accessible to users of all ages and backgrounds, including icons, illustrations, and templates.
All assets, from instruction booklets and presentations to pamphlets and posters, are open-source materials and can be used and deployed by the Digital Agency for various government functions.

Visual Assets
We created icons and illustrations for technical procedures that are difficult to understand and to improve the quality of communication throughout the agency. Two types of icons were created—system icons and service icons—according to the roles they play. The illustrations visually express administrative service procedures and are designed to be versatile so they can be used in a variety of situations.

Visual Identity
Template Design
The blue gradation, an expression of the Digital Agency’s identity, can be deployed consistently across media. A template was also designed to allow anyone to communicate information in any easy-to-understand manner.
