Osaka Kansai Expo BLUE OCEAN DOME
Turning the Expo into an Opportunity to Reclaim Our Oceans

NDC led the exhibition concept and direction for the BLUE OCEAN DOME, a domestic pavilion at the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai. The pavilion was organized by ZERI JAPAN, which envisions a waste-free society modeled on natural systems.
The pavilion's theme centered on “Revitalization of the Ocean.” Our oceans face an unprecedented crisis — rising sea temperatures due to climate change, declining seaweed beds and marine resources, and widespread plastic pollution. We sought to vividly illustrate the challenges facing our water planet while reframing these issues through the broader concepts of Earth, space, life, and environment. Our goal was to awaken individual environmental consciousness.
We conceived and realized various installations for dialogue with our planet: spectacular displays of pure “water” using massive, intricate super-hydrophobic coatings; immersive visual experiences exploring unknown oceanic worlds on a 10-meter hemispherical screen; and documentaries investigating pathways to ocean recovery. We also produced a book that compiled and re-edited the exhibition's messages and content.
