HARA DESIGN INSTITUTE

In the HIROSHIMA APPEALS project, initiated by Yusaku Kamekura, one designer is assigned to pass on the legacy each year by creating a poster. Kenya Hara designed the 2017 HIROSHIMA APPEALS poster. In this work, called the Mushroom Illustration, Kenya Hara's thoughts and prayers for HIROSHIMA are illustrated in a mushroom cloud seen from directly below. Rough sketches can be seen below. One shows a view looking up at the cloud from below, while another looks down upon the earth from space. The final version was achieved by cropping the original drawing.
