311 SCALE

311 SCALE is a Great East Japan Earthquake data visualization project undertaken by a volunteer at Nippon Design Center covering earthquakes, tsunamis, radiation and power consumption. The basic approach is summed up as, "no dramatization, no opinions, communication that can be easily understood by people around the world, maximum possible accuracy". For the exhibition, we recreated as models fourteen areas that were lost to the earthquake and tsunami at 1/500 scale. In addition, in order to accurately represent the effect of the damage, we displayed 311 SCALE, in which four types of visualized data are organized.
