Takeo Paper World -- Poster

In this series of posters, produced from 1990 through 1995, I have experimented with form and texture. The forms originated in my own ideas; they are abstract and carry no particular meaning, but have evolved from a pile of sketches I drew while dredging up memories kept deep in my mind. During the printing process, textures such as gold leaves, fruit skin, scribbles on the wall, and an old weathered letter, are synthesized with these abstract forms, tinted with three-dimensional shadows. By adding a real texture to an object, it turns out to be more substantial, assuming a reality. The series delves into a mysterious presence produced out of the amalgamation of an abstract form and a concrete texture.
