ASATSU-DK Inc. (Shochiku Square) Entrance Signage

The signage set at the entrance of ASATSU-DK Inc. produces an interesting visual effect depending on the angle from which it is viewed by pedestrians. Practically speaking, the comb-like square posts are set perpendicularly on the ground arranged at regular intervals and proceeding backward. This device allows for the emergence of diverse, half-transparent layers so passers-by can read information not only on the post closest to them, but also on receding layers of posts. Actually, you can catch sight of information even four layers back.
A still photo can hardly convey the real entity. But this signage, generating a wavering optical effect is particularly functional as retail signboards, as it effortlessly attracts attention. Furthermore, vertically aligned signage communes with the architectural motif of vertical louvers used by architect Kengo Kuma.
