The "Filing" Exhibition, held in collaboration with Makoto Orisaku, proposes to the audience "management in chaos". This is not a search for some neat, orderly method of arrangement, but rather depends on a creative approach; in fact, a room that is so messy that there's hardly a place to step is our very source of creativity. It could be a place where ignored or forgotten ideas may lay, ideas in which you once had an interest. Within such chaos, how do we encounter an idea that will, or might, bear fruit? Producing a prolific encounter is an integral role of filing tools, and our exhibition presents filing tools as a way to delve into these routines based on variety.
The exhibition showcased office tools that would work in an innovative, idiosyncratic way that differs from the conventional, and included a shopping bag file, multipurpose rubber band tags and a molded paperweight with numbers.
A book of the same title is slated to be published in August 2004.
