These posters represent the concept of "emptiness". Produced for a solo exhibition held at the GGG Gallery in Tokyo's Ginza district, they feature a framed object like a torii (a gateway at the entrance to a Shinto shrine). While there are a few letters at the bottom of the poster, the center has nothing. This empty vessel never connotes meaninglessness, but rather its opposite; it implies the possibility that something would be inspired to enter the vessel. Emptiness here insures the dormant faculties that facilitate communication. The series represents the vessel of an image that would become full by receiving images from the audience.
The "Musubi" series was shown at a poster exhibition entitled "Japan" held at the Contemporary Art Museum of Sao Paulo in 1995. It represents the "Musubi", or tie, whose meaning is multifaceted, and includes: a bond of union, conclusion, end, etcetera.
